Many companies need to arrange business trips for their employees to keep their operations running. This involves sending an employee to another location to carry out an official task at the direction of management. Let’s explore how long an employee can be sent on such a trip according to the Labour Code of the Republic of Belarus. Knowing the law is essential for proper documentation, tracking of work hours, and payroll processing. And with organizing your business trip, TravelHub is here to help.
The Maximum Duration of a Business Trip According to the Labour Code of the Republic of Belarus
The Labour Code does not set a maximum duration – it is entirely at the discretion of management and based on operational needs. However, if a business trip is planned for more than 30 days, the employee’s consent is required. Make sure to obtain it before booking your business trip flights.
Minimum Duration of a Business Trip
The Labour Code does not specify a minimum duration either. If an employee only needs a few hours to travel to another area and complete a professional task, a one-day business trip can be arranged. In such cases, the employee and employer agree on whether the employee needs to return to the workplace.
Issuance of an Order
Before the employee’s departure, an order must be created and signed. This document should include the employee’s full name and position, as well as the date, location, duration, and purpose of the trip. The order for a business trip is issued in a free format – you can find a sample online. Additionally, at the employer’s discretion, an official certificate may be issued.
Extending a Business Trip
Can a business trip be extended? Yes, it can. To extend it, a new order must be issued that specifies the new dates and the reason for the changes, and the employee must be informed. To find a hotel and flights to return to the workplace on the new dates, use the business trip organization service provided by TravelHub.
Payment Details
For each working day, the employee is paid according to the established rate. Another important factor is the per diem allowance, which is provided for both one-day trips and longer journeys (for every day). Payment is also made for travel days on the business trip – the employee receives per diems for them as well. And if you’re wondering how to reduce costs, find out here.
Two Consecutive Business Trips
If an employee is sent on two business trips in a row without returning home, separate orders must be issued for each trip.
Overseas Business Trips
The process for arranging an overseas business trip is similar to that for trips within Belarus. However, reimbursement rates vary depending on the destination country, which in turn affects both the cost of accommodations during an international trip and the per diem amounts.
