A ranking of the world's most punctual airlines and airports has been published.

During a business trip, it is especially important that departures and arrivals occur without delays and that connections remain on schedule. A fresh ranking from the British analytics firm OAG — featuring the most punctual airlines and airports in the world — can help you plan your route.

Experts analyzed data from 250 of the largest carriers by passenger volume and compared the percentage of flights that were executed strictly on schedule.

Absolute Leaders Among All the World's Airlines

Among the major players, the Japanese airlines All Nippon Airways (ANA) and Japan Airlines emerged as leaders – according to OAG, they achieved on-time performance in 88.8% and 88.1% of their flights, respectively (a delay of no more than 15 minutes was allowed).

Carriers from Latin America took third and fourth place – LATAM Airlines (85%) and Azul Airlines (84.9%). Indian airline IndiGo claimed the fifth spot with an 83.5% rate. Rounding out the top ten were Delta Air Lines, Alaska Airlines, United Airlines, American Airlines, and Spirit Airlines, whose on-time performance ranged from 73.2% to 81.8% of flights.

When considering not only the largest carriers but all airlines worldwide, Indonesian carrier Garuda topped the global list with an impressive 95.6% on-time departure rate. It was followed by South Africa's Safair (95.3%) and Germany's Eurowings (95.3%). Thai AirAsia (92.3%) and Jeju Airlines (91.8%) took fourth and fifth places, respectively.

Europe's Most Punctual Airlines

Among European carriers, experts named Eurowings as the most punctual. The regional top 10 also included Pegasus Airlines, Air Europa, Norwegian Air Shuttle, Austrian Airlines, ITA Airways, Finnair, LOT, KLM, and Iberia. For those who plan flight bookings in advance, such rankings help in choosing carriers with minimal risk of delays.

Top 5 Most Punctual Airports in Europe

In the airport category, Europe’s best air hub—based on the percentage of flights departing and arriving on schedule—is Stuttgart Airport (Germany). It is followed by the airports in Dublin (Ireland), Malta, Bergen, and Stavanger (Norway), making them attractive nodes for connections and complex itineraries.

On-Time Performance of Russian and Foreign Airlines, According to Domodedovo

Moscow's Domodedovo Airport recently conducted a separate study, evaluating the punctuality of its partners' departures and arrivals. In the ranking, Russian airlines S7 Airlines and Severstal proved to be the most punctual, while among foreign carriers, Emirates and Ethiopian Airlines led the way.

How to Use Rankings for Business Trips

If you’re planning a business trip, relying solely on rankings isn’t enough: it’s important to consider the route, connections, service class, and fare conditions. For an optimal choice, you can use a search for flights with flexible dates, which will provide more options for connections with reliable carriers.

Corporate Solutions for Managing Business Trips

Companies that frequently send employees on business trips are increasingly choosing specialized solutions to centrally manage itineraries, budgets, and reporting. A modern business travel platform helps align punctuality requirements with corporate policies, cost limits, and employee convenience.

Tips for Frequent Travelers and Business Users

For those looking for great deals, it makes sense to monitor not only punctuality ratings but also the fares offered by different airlines — on any given route, both premium and more affordable options may be available. Meanwhile, business services allow you to flexibly combine economy-class tickets for routine trips with premium options for top management.

Up-to-date lists of punctual carriers and airports serve as a valuable tool not only for individual travelers but also for those responsible for managing corporate trips within a company. Regular analysis of these rankings helps reduce the risk of canceled meetings and postponed important negotiations.

When planning your itinerary, it’s most convenient to combine trusted carriers with reliable booking services. By using online flight tickets, you can compare schedules, connection times, and punctuality ratings in just a few clicks, and then immediately book tickets for everyone on your trip.

Passengers who frequently fly through major hubs should pay attention to local airport studies and aviation analytics reviews. This is especially useful for those booking business-class tickets and relying on a highly predictable flight schedule with minimal work time lost due to delayed flights.

Scaling Your Business Travel Policies

If your company is actively expanding and regularly organizing trips for employees to various countries, it makes sense to consider comprehensive b2b travel solutions to automate route approvals, reporting, and the oversight of partner airlines' punctuality on key routes.
