Hotels: a major study on the difficulties of choice

Global hotel reservations research

Hotel booking service Hotels.com and The Sun conducted a survey of 2,000 travelers, and the results were unexpected: many tourists are overwhelmed when searching for a hotel due to the huge number of options.

The survey figures were as follows:

  • 45% of respondents admitted that they were “confused by the abundance” of hotels and recommendations, and 20% of them felt “completely confused” in the selection process.
  • Another 36% of respondents are tormented by doubts: what if the hotel next door turns out to be better? By the way, you can also check all available hotels and book a suitable one nearby the required facility on our website
  • 21% of tourists cannot decide on a country for vacation at all.
  • 20% end up giving up because “it takes too much time to sort out all the details.”

How do tourists cope with this problem of choosing a hotel?

63% focus primarily on price.

62% choose a hotel by location.

57% believe that reviews help them make the right choice.

On average, tourists spend more than 10 hours searching for a hotel.

And yet, 36% of travelers, even after carefully studying the information about the hotel, remain disappointed with their choice.

How to choose a hotel for a vacation or business trip and not lose enthusiasm for travel?

How to choose the best hotel :

  1. Make a list of priorities: decide which factors are most important to you (price, location, type of vacation, availability of a pool, etc.).
  2. Use filters: Many booking sites allow you to filter hotels based on specified criteria.
  3. Read reviews: But don't rely on them alone, as people's opinions can be subjective.
  4. Don't be afraid to ask for help: consultants and travel experts can help you choose a hotel. The TravelHub website has a convenient support chat or call the managers for help and advice.
  5. Don't be discouraged if something goes wrong: remember that you can always find another hotel or change your plans.

Remember: the main thing is to enjoy your vacation, and not get hung up on finding the perfect hotel.

But choice paralysis is not the only problem tourists face.

The survey also found that:

  • 32% of tourists are disappointed that the hotel does not have the amenities that were stated on the booking site.
  • 28% complain about noise in the room.
  • 25% are not satisfied with the quality of Wi-Fi.
  • 22% do not like the food offered at the hotel.

How to avoid these problems?

  1. Read reviews carefully: Read other travelers' reviews of the hotel to learn about its pros and cons.
  2. Pay attention to the photos: the photos can give you an idea of what to expect from the hotel.
  3. Compare prices: Don't book the first hotel you come across, compare prices on different booking sites.
  4. Read the rules: Before booking, carefully read the hotel's rules to avoid any unpleasant surprises.
  5. Be prepared to compromise: It is impossible to find a hotel that perfectly fits all your requirements, so be prepared to compromise.
  6. Do not hesitate to contact the hotel reception so that the hotel staff will take your wishes into account and make improvements where possible
