Holiday in The standard: Maldivian cuisine, traditional dancing and swimming with stingrays

If you think that a holiday in the Maldives is boring and monotonous, then you are choosing the wrong hotels. The Standard Resort on Hurawali Island is the perfect place to explore unique nature and water activities. Every day here will be filled with vivid impressions and new discoveries, and cozy villas and landscaped grounds will give you a feeling of complete comfort.

Location

Khuruvali Island is located in Raa Atoll. You can get there from Male International Airport in 35 minutes by seaplane. To arrange a transfer, please notify the hotel of your arrival and departure flights at least four days before arrival.
The cost of a round trip transfer depends on the age of the passengers. It will cost $495 for adults, $297 for tourists under 12 years old, and free for children under 2 years old. You can wait in the hotel's comfortable private lounge with delicious snacks. It is important to remember that seaplanes in the Maldives only fly during daylight hours from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. If your flight lands later, arrange an overnight stay in Male in advance.

Housing

There are 115 villas of different types and sizes available for guests to stay on the island. Some of them are on the shore. Neat houses are located in the shade of tropical plants. Each has direct access to the snow-white shore a couple of meters from the ocean with the best views of the sunset. Others are built directly above the water at a height of about 1.5 meters. For a large group, a large residence located to the side of the other villas is suitable.

Each house has a terrace with sun loungers and a mini-pool. Inside there is everything you need for a comfortable stay: a king-size bed in each room, air conditioning, TV, minibar, and a set of individual bath accessories. There are universal charging sockets, USB ports and an electronic safe, and free Wi-Fi is available throughout.

Entertainment

Start your holiday on The standard territory by exploring the island. This can be done either on foot or by bicycle - they are provided free of charge to all guests. The modern, comfortable tennis court will appeal to both professional players and beginners. And classes in the fitness room will charge you with energy for the whole day.
Water sports enthusiasts will appreciate the facilities for diving and snorkeling. Snorkeling is great for families and beginners. This is the perfect way to enjoy the warm Maldivian waters and see marine life firsthand. You can learn more about the culture of the Maldives during traditional fishing, and a boat excursion will help you see the surroundings of the island. You can meet dolphins along the way!
A unique opportunity for guests of The Standard is a trip to Hanifaru Bay, where you can see stingrays in their natural habitat. The world's largest concentration of these fish lives here from May to November. If you want to learn even more about the underwater world, check out the coral breeding station organized by the resort’s dive center team.

Young guests of the island will have fun at the Lil' Shark children's club. A games room, a swimming pool, a sandy park and a cinema hall - there is something interesting for everyone. Boys and girls can go on a walk around the island, take part in art or take a cooking class.
After an active day, head to the spa to relax. The indoor hydrotherapy area features a communal hammam, steam room and contrast showers, while the solarium offers excellent ocean views. Treatments for the face and body will help restore strength.
Romantic types will enjoy film screenings on the shore. They take place every week from July 15 to December 15. Relax on the sand or on one of the comfortable lounge chairs with a curated menu of movie-inspired snacks and drinks.
You can also get closer to the culture of the Maldives through music. Todis Bar hosts traditional dance parties “Boduberu” from June 20 to December 15. Spend a night filled with fiery rhythms, bright emotions and a memorable show. This type of music first appeared on the islands in the 11th century, presumably brought there from Africa.

Nutrition

Even the most picky guest will find something to his liking on the territory of The Standard.

You can get a taste of the Maldives at Guduguda, which serves local cuisine. The menu includes seafood, spicy rice, fresh fruits and vegetables, and homemade bread. A special atmosphere is created by the authentic setting - guests sit on cushions on the floor at low tables.
If you want to dine on the beach, try BBQ Shak. Fresh fish and meat are grilled over coconut shell charcoal, and each dish is served with a variety of homemade sauces. You can grab a quick bite at the Joos Café. You will be offered smoothies, coffee, pastries, salads, rolls and sandwiches. There is also a separate lounge area with a library of books and the latest newspapers.
