Many of the islands in this archipelago can still be considered untouched wilderness. Only the largest of them, the island of Langkawi, has a sufficiently developed infrastructure. The name of the island translates to "Red Eagle Island", and there are indeed very rare brick-red eagles found here. The island is famous for its luxurious hotels, landscapes, clear water, underwater world, mysterious caves and the amazing legend of Princess Mahsuri, who was unjustly accused of adultery and sentenced to death. Before her execution, she cursed the island, promising that Langkawi would remain desolate for seven generations. And so it happened. The island's prosperity began only with the coming to power of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Mahathir Muhamed. In 1987, the Malaysian government declared Langkawi a duty-free shopping destination and the island began to emerge as a global tourism hub. Langkawi is shrouded in many legends and traditions .

Penang Island is very well located at the crossroads of trade routes from Europe to Asia. According to Light's order, the lands he discovered were transferred by the Sultan of Kedah to the British campaign. Today, this small island amazes guests with a bizarre mixture of its diverse colonial past and the traditions of various nationalities: Indian, Chinese, Malay, which is reflected in all the historical and cultural attractions, numerous festivals and folk celebrations. Many Chinese temples in the capital, Georgetown, are located next to colonial-style mansions, and modern condominiums are located next to ancient Indian quarters.
