Author's tour "Iceland 4x4: Expedition"

You've probably seen these names in every article about Iceland. Thingvellir, Strokkur, Gullfoss. They're often called overused places, but that doesn't make them any less powerful. The difference is in how you see them. We're not in a hurry. We're not rushing. We're helping you feel the scale.

We walk along the rift between two tectonic plates in Thingvellir – and imagine how millions of years have shaped this land. We watch a geyser exhale steam from the bowels of the planet. We listen to the roar of Gullfoss not as tourists, but as participants in this space. And we stop by one of the most underrated places – the azure waterfall Bruarfoss , which is impossible to explain in words.

And then we change into trekking shoes and head towards the Reykjadalur valley. There, among the green hills and fog, a hot river flows. Bathing in it is like cleansing from everything urban. This is not an activity in the program. This is a ritual of the beginning.

We return home where it is warm. We heat up the food, share our first insights and laugh at the one who did not want to get out of the river the longest.

Today is a day that starts as a beautiful excursion and ends as a real adventure.

In the morning we set off towards a small fishing town on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. On the way we make a short stop at the Kirkjufell church mountain , one of the most photogenic in Iceland. At 10:00 we head out to sea to watch whales . This is not a show, this is a meeting with one of the most majestic creatures on the planet. We have every chance of seeing killer whales!

After returning, we have lunch and go to Arnarstapi , a fairytale village on the edge of the ocean. There are amazing lava arches, bird cliffs and a feeling that you are in a movie set. Then a short trip to Utri-Tunga beach , where you can often see seals basking on the rocks.

Next is the double waterfall Hraunfossar and Barnafoss , where the water trickles straight from the lava. The colour of the water at this time of year is particularly impressive.

But the main thing is yet to come.

We drive along the fjord towards the start of the trek to Glymur Canyon . This is a place where almost no one takes groups. And in vain. Here is the highest waterfall in Iceland , and the path to it goes through a cave, across a log across the river and along the cliffs. At sunset in August, Glymur is like a painting: orange reflections on the steep cliffs, the sound of water and a complete feeling that you are inside something great.

We return home - with tired legs, but with a heart that has seen too much beauty in one day.

Today we are heading to the heart of the Icelandic desert – Landmannalaugar. This is a place where the earth breathes, where the colours of the hills look like they were painted in watercolours, and where it feels like you are walking on another planet.

On the way we make a stop at the Háufoss waterfall - gigantic and at the same time little known, it seems to guard the entrance to the mountain world.

Let's take a walk along one of the tracks in Landmannalaugar:

• Coloured Rhyolite Hills

• Smoking Fields

• Contrast of black lava rock and green moss

• Bathing in a natural hot spring

And then - not just a road , but one of the most epic road trips in Iceland . The route is laid along the most cinematic roads of Iceland - these are valleys, mosses, black desert, canyons, waterfalls, fording rivers and an absolute sense of freedom. We will be here completely alone, as this path is only for true adventurers. This is not a transfer, this is a separate event - we will stop, take pictures, admire and, perhaps, just be silent from the scale.

In the evening we check into a house not far from Seljalandsfoss . The sound of water outside the window, stars above your head and silence that you will remember for a long time.

Today we are heading to Thorsmörk , one of the most beautiful and mysterious places in Iceland. It is not just a valley, it is a real natural arena where the elements meet in their most pristine form.

Our trek will begin with a climb towards the Eyjafjallajökull craters. Although the volcano has long been silent, its craters and lava fields still speak of themselves – of this powerful, indomitable force of nature. We will pass through moss-covered hills and valleys, cross steep climbs, where an unimaginable view of glaciers, volcanoes and the endless expanses of Iceland opens up. And even though it will be August, we will still be walking part of the way in the snow.

Thorsmörk is not just a picturesque place, it is a place where many natural elements come together:

• Deep canyons carved by millennia-old glaciers

• Green valleys covered with thick mosses and trees

• Volcanic fields where every step reminds you of the power of nature

Thorsmörk is a must-see for anyone visiting Iceland. It is a place where you can truly feel the scale of the planet, look into its depths and feel the moment. Here, every stone, every step on the trail reminds you of how much beauty and power this land hides.

After an intense trekking we return home, but the memory will remain of this incredible experience and the moments when it seemed like you were a part of the Icelandic nature itself.

Today we set off on a journey where every corner of Iceland will give us a sense of the grandeur of nature.

The first stop will be Seljalandsfoss , a waterfall that amazes with its uniqueness. We will be able to walk behind its curtain of water and feel the power of this water flow from a completely different angle. And next to it is the no less grandiose Skogafoss , a waterfall rushing down from a huge height. Here, bright rainbow reflections always delight, if you are lucky with the weather.

Then we head to Dyrhóelaei , one of the most photographed places in Iceland. With its lava columns, black beaches and huge ocean waves, it looks like a scene from a sci-fi movie.

Next, Reynisfjara is a black beach with incredibly beautiful rock formations and needle-sharp basalt columns. Here we will feel how the power of the ocean and the ancient forces of nature merge into one.

But that's not all. We are touching the tongue of the Vatnajökull glacier , one of the largest glaciers in Europe. Standing next to this ice giant, you will feel like you are part of something grand and eternal.

Before the glacier, we will have one small but unusual stop - Yoda Cave . This is a cave that resembles a character from Star Wars, where we can take a couple of great photos and feel like we are in a fantasy world.

After that we go to the Ice Lagoon and Diamond Beach . This place is not only visually stunning, but also creates an amazing feeling as if you have entered another world. Huge icebergs floating in the lagoon and the glitter of ice on the beach, which seems to split into millions of small diamonds.

And these are only the main points of the route, but we will also visit three more very nice waterfalls , each of which is unique and incredibly beautiful in its own way.

After a busy day, we will have a short drive towards Khobn , where we will spend the night in a cozy place to rest a little and prepare for the next days.

In the morning we set off for Stokksness , a place that strikes us with its cinematic quality. It’s not just a beach or a mountain – it’s a painting where every line, reflection and shade seems to have been handcrafted. The black volcanic sand, the sparkling surface of the ocean and the powerful profile of Vestrahorn create the feeling that you are standing in the epicenter of Icelandic beauty. Here you want to shut up. Or, on the contrary, scream with delight.

After a walk along the beach and taking epic shots , a long drive to Reykjavik awaits us. We are in no hurry - we make stops, listen to music, and digest everything we have seen over these days.

Lunch and free time in Reykjavik. The city is compact, soulful and ideal for the final highlight:

• Someone will go for souvenirs

• Some people just wander along the embankment

• And some of you are with us at Nauthlsvk , a city beach with a hot tub and swimming in the Atlantic Ocean (yes, the real one, cold, but very invigorating)

And in the evening - our farewell dinner . We will sum up, remember the best moments, laugh at internal memes and, perhaps, start making plans for the next trip.

Tomorrow we fly off to different parts of the world. But Iceland will remain with us - in photographs, in the body, in conversations, and somewhere deep inside.

The morning of the last day is always a little special. Some people pack their suitcases in silence, some look through photos, some make their last coffee.

The flights will start from lunchtime, and we will say goodbye - not only to Iceland, but also to each other. We have seen and felt too much in these days to remain just random fellow travelers.

Everyone will go home with something of their own:

- with a frame that you'll want to hang on your wall

- with a conversation that will not be forgotten

- with a moment in which it suddenly became very quiet, beautiful and calm
