“Belavia” baggage and carry-on allowance rules

When planning your trip with Belavia, it’s important to review the rules for checked baggage and carry-on luggage in advance. This will help you avoid unpleasant surprises at the airport and make your journey as comfortable as possible. Knowing the established limits will allow you to pack properly and avoid extra costs.

What are carry-on and checked baggage?

First, it’s worth clarifying the basic terms. Carry-on luggage is the items you take with you into the aircraft cabin. They must meet specific size and weight requirements so they don’t interfere with other passengers or the crew. Checked baggage, by contrast, is handed over to be placed in the aircraft’s baggage hold and transported separately from you. Baggage allowances depend on the fare you choose.

Belavia baggage allowances by fare

Belavia offers several fare options, each with its own baggage features.  For passengers who choose economy-class tickets, the standard Belavia allowance is typically one checked bag weighing up to 23 kg. The sum of three dimensions (length + width + height) for that bag must not exceed 158 cm. Passengers traveling on business-class tickets have more generous allowances: two checked bags with the same size limit of up to 158 cm in total dimensions. At the same time, the Belavia baggage weight limit for business customers is 32 kg. It’s important to remember that when booking Belavia tickets with baggage, you should carefully review the conditions of your specific fare.

Carry-on luggage: what can you bring into the cabin?

When it comes to carry-on, there are strict limitations on weight and size. Belavia carry-on dimensions are clearly regulated. Economy class includes one carry-on item, while business class includes two items. At the same time, any carry-on must not exceed 55x40x25 cm. The maximum Belavia carry-on weight is up to 10 kg for economy class and up to 10 kg for business class. In addition, you’re allowed to bring one personal item into the cabin, such as a handbag, briefcase, or backpack. Pay special attention to liquids: they must be in containers of no more than 100 ml, with a total volume of 1 liter, and packed in a clear bag. Electronic devices such as power banks, laptops, and tablets must be carried in the cabin, but you’ll need to take them out of your bag when passing through security screening.

Additional and excess baggage

If your items exceed the established limits, you’ll need to arrange excess or additional baggage. You can do this during ticket booking or directly at the airport. You can learn more about the fees for this baggage category on the company website.  Sometimes, when organizing business trips, there’s a need for extra baggage, and it’s best to address this in advance.

Special baggage categories

Belavia also has rules for transporting special categories of cargo. If you plan to travel with animals, you must notify the airline in advance and complete all required documentation. Pets may be transported in the aircraft cabin only for small animals (cats, dogs) in special containers, with the total weight including the animal not exceeding 8 kg and the container dimensions being 50x40x20 cm. The cost of this service is about 50 euros per flight. Pets in a carrier can also be transported on a separate seat. In that case, the carrier size increases to 55x40x40 cm. This method allows transporting pets weighing up to 23 kg. The separate seat must also be paid for. Larger animals are transported in the baggage hold in specialized crates, and the cost is significantly higher, starting at 100 euros and up, depending on the weight and the crate dimensions.

Sports equipment such as skis, snowboards, bicycles, or golf clubs is often treated as one piece of baggage. Additional fees may apply if it exceeds standard weight or size limits. Musical instruments, especially fragile and valuable ones, may be carried in the cabin on a separate seat if their dimensions do not exceed certain parameters and a separate ticket has been purchased for them. Otherwise, they must be checked as baggage with appropriate packaging.

Prohibited items: what you can’t pack in checked baggage or carry-on

There are strict rules regarding items that are strictly prohibited in both carry-on and checked baggage. These include explosive, flammable, toxic, and radioactive substances, as well as weapons and imitation weapons. Sharp objects such as knives and scissors are generally allowed in checked baggage but are strictly prohibited in carry-on luggage. Yes, really, you’ll be told to throw them away during screening. Always review the list of prohibited items carefully to avoid issues at security.

Helpful tips for travelers

To make your trip with Belavia go smoothly, follow a few practical tips. Always weigh your baggage at home to ensure it meets the established limits. This will help you avoid paying extra for Belavia baggage weight at the airport. Use online check-in whenever possible, as it saves time and lets you choose a convenient seat in advance. When checking your baggage, make sure it has a tag with your contact information. It’s also recommended to take photos of your luggage before checking it in, which can be helpful if it’s lost or damaged.

If you’re planning a trip with a lot of items, consider using a flight search service that lets you compare the conditions of different fares at once, including baggage allowances. Online check-in, available 24 hours before departure, not only saves time but also lets you add extra baggage in advance at a better price. Always keep your baggage claim tags until the end of your trip, as they are the primary document used when tracing lost baggage. If you’re traveling with group airline tickets, make sure every member of the group is familiar with the baggage rules.

Understanding and following Belavia’s checked baggage and carry-on rules is a key factor for a comfortable, hassle-free trip. From Belavia baggage allowances to rules for transporting special categories of items, every detail matters. Always check the most up-to-date rules on the airline’s official website before each trip, as they may change. This will help you avoid unexpected expenses and make your journey as enjoyable as possible.
